Fred Willis (1977 - 2001)
Coach Fred Willis was a major advocate and coach for the advancement of Girls’ sports, serving as the Withrow Lady Tigers’ coach in cross-country, track and basketball. After graduating from Withrow High School in 1969, Coach Willis began teaching at Withrow High School in the 1973-74 school year. In addition to coaching, Coach Willis taught computer programming, accounting, and other business subjects for 35 years at Withrow High School.
Starting out as an assistant football coach (1975-1977), Coach Willis went on to coach Girls’ and Boys’ cross country (1977-2001,). He became the Lady Tigers head varsity basketball (1977-2001), Girls and boys head Track coach (1979- 2001) and was named PHSL Coach of the Year in all three sports, multiple times
Coach Willis retired from Withrow for a second time in 2007, moved to Riverview Academy and served as the Athletic Director for several years.
